MY CURRENT DRUGSTORE & VEGAN SKINCARE ROUTINE

Skin doesn't have it easy in autumn and winter, with the cold weather outdoor, and the heating indoor.
Mine, usually normal, have gone dry in the past few months. I needed some extra help bringing the hydration back to it, and these products worked fantastically well for me:

THE BODY SHOP CAMOMILE SILKY CLEANSING OIL

After I went through 8 (!) pots of my favourite face cleanser by Lush, I thought I needed a change. I decided to give the iconic Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil by The Body Shop a go. I liked it from the first use!I simply massage it over my damp face and rinse it off with a warm cloth. This cleanser melts my makeup off almost immediately. It works great and leaves my skin so soft and plump.
It lasts forever, too, because a little bit of it goes a long way.
It is very gentle to my face, not so much to my eyes, though. And this is the only thing I dislike about it. 200 ml retails for £12.

THE BODY SHOP
VITAMIN E
HYDRATING TONER

This is the best toner I have ever used. It really changed my skincare routine. It is very calming   and refreshing. It moisturises my skin and makes it velvety smooth.
It lasts forever because you only need a tiny bit of it every time you use it. A true gem!

£8- 250 ml

THE BODY SHOP ELDERFLOWER EYE GEL

It is very cooling and refreshing. It relaxes my under eye area, and helps to remove the morning puffiness.
It works well for me, but I am not sure if it would satisfy those of you with a very dry and difficult under eye area. I like the travel-friendly and easy to store packaging, too!
£8- 15ml

THE BODY SHOP  VITAMIN E MOISTURE CREAM

A fantastic, lightweight cream, perfect for everyday use and great under makeup. It absorbs very easily. My skin literally drinks it up in seconds!
Paired with the Hydrating Toner, it gives me the level of moisture that I need. It is a day cream, but I apply two layers of it before sleep, too.
I like it a lot, but next time I will definitely try the version designed specifically for dry skin.

£13-50 ml, £19-100ml

SUKIN SUPER GREENS DETOXIFYING FACIAL SCRUB

You may recognise this product, as I have reviewed it on my blog before. I am currently going through a second bottle of it.
I really like it! It is very natural, very effective and it smells good.
The tiny jojoba peeling beads efficiently remove my dead skin.

A great find, so far my favourite face scrub!

£7,95- £9.99- 125 ml

Not sponsored. I bought all of these products with my own money :) Thanks for reading! x

JANUARY 2018 FAVOURITES

'Primeval and Other Times' ('Prawiek i inne czasy') by Olga Tokarczuk

BOOK OF THE MONTH

I have this little tradition that I reread my all time favourite book every year, usually in January. And I did it again. I am talking about 'Primeval and Other Times' by Olga Tokarczuk. She is one of my favourite writers, and this is, in my opinion, the best book of hers.

The novel tells the story of three generations of few families from Primeval- a small village in Poland, where realism meets magic, the sacred meets the profane, and where the pagan power of nature meets the rigid Christian rules. There are no heroes in it, just ordinary people living their seemingly ordinary lives. Tokarczuk makes them all important, though. She proves that they all belong to the world and they create it. Both world wars and big historical changes are only a background to the story, which begins in 1914 and spans over three-quarters of the 20th century.

This book is very comprehensive. It talks about life, love, sex, friendships, god, war, the youth, the adulthood, and the old age. The beauty and ugliness of mankind.
It is phenomenal, sophisticated but easy to read. It will satisfy an occasional reader, as well as a true bookworm, with an impressive knowledge of literature. It is engaging and disturbing. In 'Primeval...' the world is described from many different perspectives.

I love Tokarczuk's unconventional way of writing. She is very unique. Thanks to her sharp observation skills and unbelievable prose, reading her books is an amazing experience. You can see the world she describes, you can hear it, you can smell it.

NETFLIX FAVOURITES:

'Grace and Frankie' 4
It was so good to see my favourite squad from San Diego! These feisty 70-somethings made me laugh and cry once again. The fourth season was slightly different from the first three, it was more nostalgic. Nonetheless, it was awesome! My full review of the 4th season is here, and if you never heard of this show before, you can read about it more here.

'Cable Girls' 2
Lidia Aguilar and her firends are back in the gripping series Cable Girls. The second season did not disappoint. Set in 1920s Madrid, the show features a strong female lead and powerful feminism message. Don't skip it!

THE FOOD I WAS LOVING IN JANUARY

January was the month of bananas and peanut butter. It is the most clichéd combination ever (ok, probably tomatoes and mozzarella team beats it). But I just can not get enough of this taste!

 SKINCARE FAVOURITE

Vitamin E Hydrating Toner byThe Body Shop

It is the best toner I have ever used. My skin is usually dry to   normal, but recently it was dryer than ever. Adding this     gem to my skincare routine was/a great decision. It calms   and  moisturises my skin, leaving it soft, smooth and supple.

NANGA PARBAT RESCUE MISSION

At the end of January, the whole world was watching the Nanga Parbat rescue mission organised by Polish climbers. A brave team of 4, Adam Bielecki, Denis Urubko, Jaroslaw Botor and Piotr Tomala, left their own dreams and ambitions behind, and put their lives at risk to save Elisabeth Revol and Tomasz Mackiewicz stuck just below the top of Nanga Parbat- The Killer Mountain.

Voluntarily, in the darkness and unimaginable cold, they were climbing up in the dizzying speed.
They found exhausted Elisabeth, who did not give up on walking down the mountain. Unfortunately, they could not save Tomasz. The weather conditions didn't allow the rescue team to attempt to find him, he was he was too high, and when Elisabeth was leaving him, he was in agony. He will stay forever on his beloved Nanga Parbat.

People like them change the world. It takes a courage to live the life to the fullest. I hope Elisabeth fully recovers and the boys of the rescue team safely reach a top of K2. And may Tomasz rest in peace.

KIAN'S JANUARY 2018 FAVOURITES

The yet another busy month behind us. A month full of thrills, laughter and love. It all started not so pretty, though. Kian was teething very, very badly in December and first two weeks of January. We both were absolutely exhausted. Xmas preps were tough, I was cooking with him in my hug, at all times. Breastfeeding was a nightmare. It wasn't this painful even at the very beginning. He pretty much didn't sleep at all.
Around the mid-Jan, the pain was finally gone. We could not be happier! He now sleeps much, much better at nights, breastfeeding is easy again, and he smiles and laughs more than ever!

CURRENT FAVOURITE ACTIVITIES
PEEK-A-BOO
Our little tradition before the nap time. Kian covers his face with the sleeping bag or a duvet, and I need to look for him. Obviously, he bursts out laughing every time I say: 'Oh, here you are!'

RUNNING AROUND THE PARK AND TRYING TO COPY OLDER KIDS
His favourite thing to do. He tries to copy everything that 3 and 4-year-old girls and boys do in the park. Baby slide and baby swing are boring!

DRAWING
He enjoys drawing, but chewing the colouring pens is still more fun. This month he drew 'Puss in Boots' which he calls 'Malus buty' (Malus-name of our cat, and how Kian calls all the cats in the world. 'Buty' means shoes in polish). I hung this drawing on the fridge and any time he sees it, he laughs and says 'Malus! Malus buty!'

READING
Still one of his all time favourite things to do. He could do that for hours and hours every day.

LAUNDRY AND CLEANING
He never gets tired of hoovering the carpets, feeding the cat, doing laundry and all of that boring house stuff. He assists us with everything, and those simple activities still fascinate him. And the frying pans, saucepans, the pineapple corer and the measuring spoons are the best toys ever invented.

MUSIC
Still totally obsessed with his two favourite songs- 'Georgia' (by Ray Charles) and 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' (well, he respects all the genres😀). Any times he sees a star anywhere, he immediately starts to sing and dance.

And the funniest thing is when he is in the middle of 'reading' his books or playing with toys, and he goes 'Georgia, Gorgiaaaaaa. The man has a great taste in music!

SPEAKING
He learned plenty of new words this month. Communicating with him gets easier and more fun every day. He currently uses 75 words (properly pronounces them, and knows their meaning).
His favourites at the moment are: 'frog' and 'foot'.

THE JOKES
Do you guys recall the exercise from the Bum Workout by Mel B, where she is on all fours, lifting up one of her legs?

Well, my son saw me doing the whole workout a few times (must have been traumatic for him), and a month later, out of blue, I saw him perfectly copying Mel, and saying 'up! up!'. It was hilarious! Sice then, any time he wants to cheer me up, he does this exercise.

BOOKS:
'Monkey Puzzle' by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. He has been obsessed with this book for over 3-4 months now, and he knows it by heart in his own language :) He could read it thousand times a day, and get excited everytime monkey finds his mother. This book is one of my favourites, too. It is clever and funny. Kian learned many words from it, too (e.g. parrot, bat, frog).

'Who's hiding in the jungle'-by Linda Cole and Andrea Petrlik. Kids can guess and pull the tab to find out what animal is hiding behind the one hosting the page of the book. Great fun!

ANIMALS

The team of favourite animals led imperturbably by cats, was recently joined by frogs.
So now we have dogs, cats, cows, sheeps, owls, monkeys and frogs. And geese!

FOOD

Olives stole his heart back in December, and this relationship is still going strong!

FAVOURITE TOYS

Wooden Toolbox set- he absolutely loves playing with it. And he naturally gets how to use the tools.

The Fire Station and The Fire Engine- he loves them. The fire engines fascinate him. I hope this won't turn into his career one day, cause I would be worried sick at all times!

Noah's Ark- another favourite. he usually picks some of the animals and runs around the house with them, puts them into tiny boxes. Closes the boxes. Opens the boxes and takes out the animals. And then he repeats over and over again :)
