Get a subtle glow!

I have been in love with highlighters for many years now. I adore the way they make me look. They beautifully transform my face from a rather large, matte potato into a decent looking human being. But enough rumble about the power of highlighters, we all know the drill.

There are two major groups of glow lovers. The first group loves a subtle highlight, adding just a bit life to their cheekbones. People, who like looking classy and elegant.
And then there is us- mothers of sparkle, whose brushes are swimming in a highlighter pod. Queens of glitter, who never blind others enough.

I once (?) went a bit over the limit and applied my beloved Mary Lou too heavily. I didn't like what I saw in the mirror. And this is when I thought about buying a less insane highlighter. A breakthrough moment in my makeup life. I have heard good reviews about  Makeup Revolution highlighters, and I thought that I would give them a go.

As first I picked up the Vivid Baked Highlighter in Moon Glow Lights. OMG. Why did I order it so late? Where have I been? This highlighter looks like a heaven on the cheeks. It is so subtle, so elegant, romantic and girly. it gives me the desired glow from within.
It is a genius product for its price (£3). It is quite powdery, you will get a lot of kick up with it.  I wouldn't worry about going through the product too quickly, though.

This product is also versatile- you can use it as a highlighter, light blush or blush topper. It has a light, neutral pink colour, which will suit both cool-toned and warm-toned fans of glow. The consistency kind of transforms on the cheeks and doesn't look powdery anymore. The Moon Glow Lights is also perfect for those of you, who want to begin the highlighting adventure.

The only con of this products is its packaging.  Mine has already broke, and I can not close it. It is also quite bulky and not easy to store. The letters rubbed off too. But hey, this is a massive highlighter and it retails for £3. I really can not expect more than I got.

So, when I was shopping for The Moon Glow Lights, I added one more highlighter to my basket. It was the beautiful 'Breathe' from the Radiant Lights range. At first, I wasn't 100% sold on this because I wasn't sure if this light peach shade will suit me. But when I swatched it and saw how subtle it is, I immediately thought about applying it all over my face. I use a large, not dense brush to apply it on the top of my setting powder. I do it always when I want to achieve a glowy, healthy looking skin and add an extra dimension to my face. It looks beautiful as a standard highlight on the top of the cheekbones. It would work wonders for those of you with pale, warm toned skin. It is very elegant and glitter-free. It is easy to work with and long lasting (min 7h of wear).

I really like the packaging of this highlighter. It is easy to store and to travel with. It is very sturdy and has a lovely mirror inside. Overall, I think this is a fantastic product!

My favourite Zoeva palette

Zoeva has a few amazing warm-toned palettes, but, as much as I would love to give them a go - I look scary in warm-toned eyeshadows. Fortunately, I found one which I love and which screams cool tones! It is the beautiful 'En Taupe' palette.

There are 10 eyeshadows in this palette. They come in a bunch of different finishes.

My favourites are:

- 'Stitch by Stitch'- a perfect matte, cool-toned ivory,
- 'Gallery' matte, ashy bronze,
- 'Old Master'- matte, greyish purple with glitter
- 'Handmade'- light pink with golden frost.

These eye shadows are really good quality, except two which sadly are poorly pigmented and hard to work with (Hour By Hour and Sheers& Voiles).
They are easy to apply and very blendable. They last on my eyes for 8-12h (the more pigmented shades last longer).

These shadows are not overly pigmented so you won't get much fallout. And they are very easy to work with.

When it comes to the packaging, 'En Taupe' has it all. It's compact, it's light, it's beautiful, and it's classy!

This palette may seem to be a bit boring for those of you, who love strong colours but trust me, you can create really beautiful looks with it. It is beginners friendly!

What to pack in your hospital bag

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

One of the most common questions you'll get as mum-to-be is: 'Have you packed your hospital bag yet'? Don't let it become a big deal. Plan ahead, what you need to prepare, do proper research, pack your bag and relax. I hope that this post will be helpful. Happy reading!

WHAT TO PACK:

DOCUMENTS:
- Labour Plan,
- Maternity Notes aka Green Notes

FOR LABOUR:
-slippers
-nightdress or an old t-shirt to give birth in
-dressing gown (I would suggest getting one in a dark colour)
-lip balm
-2 hair ties
-carrier bag to put dirty clothes in
-drinks and snacks

POST LABOUR:
- nursing bras
-socks
-nursing PJ's or nightdress
-comfy tracksuit bottoms or leggins (again, dark colours are the best)
-going home outfit
-disposable or old knickers (yes, you will ruin them :))
-breast pads
-maternity pads
-toiletries
-towel
-some makeup
-antibacterial hand gel
-antiseptic wipes (they might come in handy if you would be concern about the cleanliness in the hospital)

FOR YOUR BABY:
-4-5 vests
-4-5 sleepsuits
-socks
-booties (helpful in late autumn/ winter time)
-2 hats
-mittens
-outfit for going home
-jacket or overall
-nappies
-2 muslin squares
-nappy cream/ coconut oil
-baby blanket
-car seat
-special outfit if you want to take some cute photos in the hospital (remember though that you may have no time/ not feel well enough to take them in the hospital)

FOR YOUR PARTNER:
-comfy slippers/ flip flops
-change of clothes (it is very hot in the delivery and postnatal wards, so a cotton T-shirt would be a good choice)
-toothpaste and toothbrush
-drinks and snacks
-towel

OTHER STUFF:
-phones and phone charges
-notebook and a pen if you like to note the memories down
-camera and charger (optional)
-tens machine if you are planning on using one
-book/ MP3 player/ iPod
-change for vending machines

MY TOP TIPS:

1. Going on a hospital tour will help you to visualise a successful delivery as well as help you to pack the right stuff.

2. Practice fitting the car seat securely in your car well before your due date.

3. Prepare an extra bag with yours & baby's clothes and leave it at home. Let your partner know where is it. It will come in handy if you need to stay in the hospital for a bit longer. You don't have to invest in an additional bag or a suitcase. It can be an actual large carrier bag.

4. Take at least two packs of maternity pads to the hospital and have a great backup at home. You may be bleeding for up to 6 weeks after delivery and you will specifically need large pads for the first two weeks

5.  You may want to pack a water spray however, it is not a necessity.

6. It is handy to pack sleepsuits in at least two sizes ('Tiny Baby' and 'Newborn' or 'Newborn' and '0-3'). Especially if you are expecting smaller/ larger than an average size baby.

7. Postnatal wards are usually quite noisy at night. I have had ear plugs with me, but I have never used them. I was scared that I won't hear my baby crying.
If they aren't a necessity for you, skip them.

8. I have had a book with me, but I had no time to open it. Remember that you may be discharged home few hours after delivery. Do not overpack.

9. Be well organised- talk your partner through the bag and show him where things are.
